According to Business Week, Blogging is ’simply the most explosive outbreak in the information world since the Internet itself. And they’re going to shake up just about every business — including yours’.

The presenters for this event are Tom Raftery, of Tom Raftery I.T., Dr. John Breslin of UCG and Maura McHugh.

After working for Horizon Technical Services for a number of years, Tom Raftery co-founded Zenith Solutions in 1996. In 2002 Tom joined Chip eServices as CTO and in 2004 Tom set up Tom Raftery IT, a web consultancy company.

Dr. John Breslin is a researcher at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where he is working in the areas of social networking and online communities. He is also a director of boards.ie Ltd., Ireland’s largest bulletin board community site, and in April 2005 he set up the “Planet Of The Blogs” site, which aggregates Irish blog content.

“Like all Arts postgrads in the 1990s Maura McHugh forged a career in IT. After working as an IT Manager for a small start-up in Dublin for a numbers of years, she branched out as a freelance web designer. She began her blog (http://babblogue.com/blog) in 2000, and it serves to fuse her background in the Arts with her ongoing interest in technology. She is currently engaged in a MA in Screenwriting at the Huston School of Film in Galway.”
