While offline last night, I fiddled around with the Planet of the Blogs text logo in CorelDRAW - since the official set of Simian fonts (for Planet of the Apes) costs something like $110, I’ve had to make my own vector versions but so far so good… Click on the small image to see my progress so far. Brown looks nice, now all I need is a picture of a chimpanzee from the films like Cornelius or Zaius using a computer

Had a nice birthday yesterday, with a nice two-hour walk over Black Head and a lovely meal in a favourite restaurant (the Black Oak near Miltown Malbay) with family…
I was a bit sickened by the media’s assumption of the Pope’s death a day ahead of time. Okay, it was fairly certain that he was on the way out, but couldn’t they wait until he actually did die before coming out with the eulogies? I wouldn’t say I’m extremely religious or anything but, for example, the supplement in the Irish Independent on Saturday titled “Pope John Paul II: 1920 - 2005″ and the bungled announcement on TV3 while he was still alive were just some examples of how eager the media can be to write someone off to get the scoop.
So I’ve set up two aggregators: one to aggregate boards.ie blogs (Planet Boards) and the other to aggregate Irish blogs (Planet of the Blogs). As I’ve mentioned on the irishblogs mailing list, I’d like to have a Statue of Liberty (Planet of the Apes-style, waist deep in the sandy beach) typing on a laptop as the logo. I’m looking for the font as I type ![]()
A bit of fun on boards.ie this morning where we pretended that boards.ie had been bought by the easyGroup company (please don’t sue us Stelios!). I’m glad that some people did actually fall for it.
