Found this NUI Galway RSS Reader today - our library here in NUI Galway now have a selection of RSS/RDF feeds detailing new book acquisitions in the various faculties, and each is updated daily. Cool!

Here’s a full list of the feeds from the James Hardiman Library:

Arbitrary queries now create feeds. Just search on any topic and see the feed-link in the results page. Alternatively, hand-roll your your own by feeding something like this to your reader.

Yup, the catalogue is opensearch compatible, (RSS v2.0). The static feeds refered to in your post are RDF - RSS v1.0). The upside of is you can search the OPAC catalogue via the A9 toolbar, as you simultaneously search Google and lots of other stuff.
