We now have a FOAF Galway Wiki for those who want to organise events both before, during and after the workshop. I’m looking forward to it now that the mad rush has subsided somewhat.
Yes, at last I am among the broadband elite. I was surprised at how straightforward the ADSL self-install was, and now I can have tuxmail, eggdrop and streaming internet radio running on my DreamBox satellite receiver. So far, so good. I’m using Esat BT BTW.
Hello -
I started typing this up a week ago, then pressed the forward button on my keyboard and lost it from the browser - well, better late than never.
The vBulletin 3 upgrade went fairly smoothly, and thanks to my co-admins the remaining tasks are being trimmed off one by one. I’m including a reduced version of our do list to give you an idea of some of the work involved - like Iarnród Éireann and Fianna Fáil we have a lot done, but we’re getting there.
- Port over the main page and sections - main page done, chat done and upgraded - gathering done - menu done - usenet done - members done but need to fix header same as usenet - phpadsnew done - photopost not done
- Fix bugs with menu, e.g. menus not popping or popping to right, some items missing - done
- Download vbulletin 3.0.3 and install journal 1.2b - done
- Get the subscribed journals bit working again for the menu - works on menu - but not sure if there is a subscribe option in the current port
- Figure out why main page is so slow, fix bad links and login section - done
- Apply the journal hack’s template, phrase and database updates again - it’s just time consuming - done
- Install some skins, working on a black one at the moment - done, still needs some tweaking
- Matching of style, menu and ad colours and design of title images with boards.ie logo - title images done
- Stars using user rankings system in vbulletin - done
- Allow mods to edit access masks - done, ecksor rocks
- Remove five journals (journalids 6714, 1535, 5731, 6202, 10164) - disabled
- Install php with curl (for paypal payments) - done
- Create a paypal account for subscriber payments - done
- Buy the latest version of photopost, install photopost and test it out as regards integration with vbulletin - bought, ecksor is working on it
- Add paid subscriptions for existing subscribed users, moderators, community moderators (if subscription is still valid) - to do
- Hack to create e-mail for those who pay for subscriptions and to allow creation of a photopost album - to do
- Arrange ads with phpadsnew - to do
Today, I added three new images for the White, Classic and Grey skins. My next task will be to tidy some of the images on the Cloud skin (which I based on the old vB2 skin and images from forumimages.com).
As I’ve said in a previous post, community support has been very much appreciated. Thank you all.
