I have been profiled at science.ie as part of their focus on the Semantic Web. (Link to profile and their article on the future of the Web.)

Just released the first beta versions of these modifications for vBulletin 3 yesterday - and there’s been a positive response so far, with quite a few installations.
We’ll be installing these on boards.ie after we move to vB3 - you can read more on the discussion threads at vbulletin.org - vBFOAF | vBFriends.
Also, I think I mentioned before that we’re hosting the first workshop on Friend of a Friend and social networking on the semantic web in Galway in September - the local page has been updated for FOAF Galway, and the Call for Papers has just been issued.
Trying to pigeon hole forums and communities is a tricky business - everyone has a different opinion as to where such and such should go. With the latest reshuffle of forums at boards.ie, I’ve tried to go with the structure at dmoz.org (or my heart if that fails). So far, so good. Of course, people will miss what they are familiar with, but we do have more scope for future expansion I think.
As part of my new job at DERI, we’re hosting a workshop on FOAF (Friend of a Friend) and social networks. I was talking with Jon (Talliesin) about the meanings of friends and enemies, and he had a quote I had to add here (maybe you’ve heard it before, but it’s good nonetheless):
[18:33] [Talliesin] The Innuit language has a word that roughly translates as “to like, but not to the extent where you would go on a seal-hunting trip with”
[18:35] [Talliesin] If you spend cold winters in a small igloo with a bunch of people you develop precise terms for human relationships.
Found this a few months back but just got to post it now. The SocialNetworkBot (an IRC bot based on PircBot) attempts to produce graphical representations of “who talks to who” on IRC channels.
